Guan Dee added the party’s strategy to contest in the constituency will be enhanced with new party divisions that will be set up in Karambunai, which forms part of Sepanggar.
“The Sepanggar parliamentary seat is currently held by the opposition but we intend to contest there.
“STAR divisions in the Karambunai state seat have been set up in accordance with the party’s constitution and requirements of the Registrar of Societies (ROS),” he said in a statement today.
Earlier, he officiated the Karambunai division’s first annual meeting at Kampung Lentuong, Telipok. Also present was vice-president and strategic director of STAR, Edward Linggu.
Sepanggar was an Umno stronghold but was then snatched by Warisan during the 14th general election.
Currently, STAR, which is also a Perikatan Nasional (PN) component party, only has one parliamentary seat – Keningau – under its president, Jeffrey Kitingan.
Meanwhile, Edward said party deputy secretary-general Ardino Diris has been appointed as the coordinator in Sepanggar.
He will be assisted by three heads of division in the area, namely Stephen Teo (from Karambunai), Jeffrey Kumin (Inanam) and Mohd Yasir Mohd Yasin (Darau).
