According to the UK government’s official website, which contained a series of relaxations in the conditions for those who have completed their vaccinations, there will also be changes to its international travel rules.
From Oct 4, the rules for international travel to England will change from the red, amber, and green traffic light system to a single red list of countries.
“It will maintain only one red list of high-risk countries while the rest of the world will be moved into a single category.
“Travel measures for arrivals from the rest of the world will also be simplified.
“However, the rules for travel from countries and territories not on the red list will depend on the visitors’ vaccination status,” the advisory said.
It also said that from 4am on Oct 4, visitors from the expanded list of 17 countries, who have been fully vaccinated at least 14 days before their arrival, do not need to take a pre-departure PCR (Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction) test or take a Day 8 Covid-19 test once there.
“They also do not need to be quarantined at home or in the place they are staying for 10 days after arrival.”
Malaysia was included in the list. Other countries included were Australia, Singapore, Brunei, New Zealand, South Korea and Taiwan.
The advisory said those who have obtained a full course of the Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna or Janssen vaccines from a relevant public health body in these countries are accepted. Any mixing of the two-dose vaccine regime is also recognised.
“Visitors must, however, book and pay for a Day 2 Covid-19 test, which is to be taken after arrival and complete a passenger locator.”
The website also stated that visitors must be able to prove that they have been fully vaccinated with a document, either digital or paper-based, from a national or state-level public health body.
Visitors who fail to show proof they have been fully vaccinated must follow the non-vaccinated rules or might be denied boarding if they fail to do so.
