
It was understood that he arrived at the hospital around 1.30pm and spent an hour at the hospital making rounds at the facility and chatting with the hospital staff and patients.
It was believed that the new health minister was checking the situation on the ground and working conditions at the hospital.
According to several social media posts, Khairy was dressed casually in a pair of black jeans and a hoodie and was accompanied by a ministry officer.
His spot check at the hospital was praised by the netizens. Among others, Dr Khairul Hafidz Alkhair Khairul Amin who is also the founder and chairman of the MedTweetMy Twitter account said the minister did a good job.
“Spotted in Kajang Hospital. This is what we call a real spot check. Seeing the minister coming unannounced like this surely can give some shock to the staff there. Good job YB @Khairykj,” he said in a Twitter post.
In a separate Twitter post, national diver Pandelela Rinong also commented on the “spot-check”, saying: “I still remember YB came to the pool without any announcement or entourage, just casually watching a diving competition at the normal spectator seat.”
