MSMEs to get RM500mil payout from Tuesday

A total of RM1 billion has been earmarked for GKP 4.0 payments for the roughly one million MSMEs.

The payout will provide relief for small traders like food stall owners, barbershops, workshops and bakeries and help their cash flow, says Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
PETALING JAYA:
Micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) owners stand to receive RM500 in the first payout of Prihatin Special Grant 4.0 (GKP 4.0) starting from Tuesday.

In a statement today, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the second batch of GKP 4.0 payments, which also amounts to RM500 per MSME owner, will be disbursed in November.

A total of RM1 billion will be paid out over the two payments to roughly one million MSMEs.

“I hope this aid can help revive the SME sector, which is an engine of economic growth for the Malaysian Family,” said Ismail.

“Hopefully, this will provide relief for small traders like food stall owners, barbershops, workshops and bakeries and help their cash flow,” he said, adding that the SME sector was among the most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ismail added that the total amount of GKP aid is RM6.08 billion.

Payments will be credited directly to the bank accounts of GKP recipients, with applicants able to check their approval status for GKP 4.0 from Monday onwards.

Meanwhile, finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz said today that those who have lodged appeals after not receiving Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat (BPR) aid for B40 recipients can check their status from tomorrow onwards at the BPR portal.

In a statement, he said that RM240 million has been set aside for the nearly 200,000 successful appeal applicants, with payment to be credited directly to their bank accounts at the end of the month.
