Negeri CID chief dies in hospital after bout with Covid-19

He was admitted to hospital with Covid-19 but tested negative for the virus upon his death.

Negeri Sembilan criminal investigation department (CID) chief Ramlan Abdul Razak, 59, died at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital (HTJ) early today of Covid-19.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Mohamad Mat Yusop said Ramlan was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on Aug 8 and was being treated at HTJ.

But he said Ramlan was confirmed negative for Covid-19 before he died at 1.35am this morning.

“His internal organs failed to function properly due to the effects of Covid-19,” he told Bernama here today.

He said Ramlan’s death was a big loss to the state police, especially the Negeri Sembilan CID.

Mohamad described Ramlan as a kind but firm person with wide experience in crime investigation.

He said the officer, who had served the force for more than 30 years, was about to retire on Oct 9.

His remains were laid to rest at the Senawang Muslim Cemetery at 11am.

Ramlan is survived by his wife and 10 children.
