Man high on ganja drives against traffic, kills 2 in car

Those killed were aged 18 and 19.

SHAH ALAM:
Two youths were killed in an accident after their car was involved in a head-on collision with a four-wheel-drive vehicle driven against the traffic flow on the Federal Highway here early today.

Shah Alam district police chief Baharudin Mat Taib said initial investigations revealed that a Mitsubishi Triton four-wheel-drive, which was travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Klang against the flow of traffic, crashed head-on with a Proton Wira about 2am.

“The two victims, an 18-year-old girl, who was the driver of the car, and a 19-year-old male, died on the spot,” he said in a statement today.

Baharudin said both victims were taken to Hospital Shah Alam for a post-mortem.

He said the driver of the four-wheel-drive vehicle tested positive for ganja and had been remanded for six days from today.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving and causing death.

Baharudin urged the public or witnesses to come forward and contact the traffic police investigation and enforcement department investigating officer Muhammad Hasrul Suhiami at 011-31215697 to assist in investigations.

Selangor fire department director Norazam Khamis, in a statement, said both victims were found trapped inside their car following the crash. His team took 30 minutes to extricate the bodies.
