Alleged leader of ‘Mimpi Terakhir’ deviant group freed on bail

Police say the deputy public prosecutor ordered her release pending a report from Jakim.

Police arrested the 39-year-old female leader of the group after recording a statement from her.
PETALING JAYA:
A woman believed to be the leader of a deviant religious group has been released on bail after her arrest at her home in Shah Alam last Saturday.

A recent video of the 39-year-old woman, who allegedly heads the Perjalanan Mimpi Yang Terakhir (PMYT) group, went viral on Facebook. She claimed that World War 3 would begin in Sabah and that she would lead her followers to find Imam Mahdi and fight the enemy.

“Following the deputy public prosecutor’s orders, the woman has been released on bail while awaiting a report from the department of Islamic development Malaysia (Jakim),” Brickfields police chief Anuar Omar told Berita Harian.

Last week, deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (religious affairs) Ahmad Marzuk Shaary said Jakim would send representatives to assist the police in their investigations as the agency has a “special team” under its enforcement division as well as experts who have been monitoring the teachings of PMYT.

Based on initial investigations, police last week said that the woman claimed she could communicate directly with Allah, the angels and Prophet Muhammad, and that PMYT was revealed to her to guide the people.

The case is being investigated under Section 298A of the Penal Code for causing disharmony, disunity or enmity, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of a network facility.
