Earlier today, Zuraida had spoken at the women’s assembly Malaysian urban forum organised by Urbanice Malaysia.
During the forum, she stressed on the impact of the health crisis and struggles faced by women and girls worldwide, especially in urban areas, but said she was grateful for Malaysia’s effective digital ecosystem, as a safety measure for the safety of women and girls.
“We have the tools to achieve the goals for gender equality, even during the pandemic, through smart technology and digital solutions,” she said.
Other than an effective digital ecosystem, she said one of the ways to boost women’s participation was by appointing more women in decision-making positions, so it will create a more gender balanced environment.
“To do this, stakeholders must take part and focus our strengths to make this (more women’s participation) a reality,” said Zuraida.
