Bukit Aman traffic investigation and enforcement department officers impounded a BMW M6, two Nissan GTR R35, a Mercedes A45 and arrested four men, aged 24 to 35, at the Awan Besar rest area along the Kesas Highway while they were taking a smoke break.
The police personnel, all in plainclothes, also arrested eight bikers, riding Yamaha Y15, Yamaha 135LC and Yamaha Lagenda 115Z, for committing dangerous stunts on the Federal Highway and Grand Saga Highway.
During the operations involving a total of 21 policemen at the three locations, the drivers were seen going against the traffic flow while the bikers, aged 19 to 22, were found performing their “Superman” stunts and zig-zagging on the highways.
All 12 were released early this morning upon completion of the documentation process at the Kuala Lumpur, Shah Alam and Kajang police stations, but they went back home without their vehicles.
Mohd Nadzri Hussain, deputy director of the Bukit Aman traffic investigation and enforcement department, said the men were being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He also explained that Bukit Aman had opted for a “no chase” policy to nab these speedsters.
“The officers normally don’t pursue suspects in vehicles and won’t try to stop them while the race is on because of the risks involved.
“We’ll nab the suspects when they stop to take their break with their vehicles parked,” said Nadzri.
He said police would also investigate if they had violated the national recovery plan SOPs currently enforced in the Klang Valley.
“The vehicles would also be sent to the Road Transport Department to ascertain if there are illegal modifications,” he added.
