A recent video of the woman went viral on Facebook. She claimed that World War III would begin in Sabah and that she would lead her followers to find Imam Mahdi and fight the enemy.
Brickfields deputy police chief Basri Sagoni said police arrested the 39-year-old early today after they had recorded a statement from her at her house in Selangor on Thursday.
Basri said initial investigations found that the woman claimed she could communicate directly with Allah, the angels and Prophet Muhammad, and that PMYT was revealed to her to guide the people.
“The woman also claimed to be the head of the PMYT group and that the lives of anyone who hurt or prevented her from spreading her teachings could be taken away by Allah,” he said.
“The statements in this video can be considered as insulting the sanctity of Islam and causing public concern.”
Police also confiscated five mobile phones, an automated teller machine card, a receipt for a RM84,721.42 transfer to a local bank, and a white telekung (female prayer garb) believed to have been used by the suspect during the Facebook video.
Basri said to date, there had been six police reports lodged at five different police stations regarding the contents of the video.
He added that prior to her arrest, the woman had lodged a police report denying that she had created a deviant group or any other group that promoted teachings contrary to the teachings of Islam.
She also denied all the charges, including that her actions threatened national security.
The woman has been remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code for four days until Sept 7.
The case is being investigated under Section 298A of the Penal Code for causing disharmony, disunity or enmity, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of a network facility.
