
As at 3pm today, he said 39% had been fully vaccinated while 58.4% of adults in the state have received at least one dose.
Speaking to FMT, Masidi said the increase in cases in Sabah today was due to a rise in infections in Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Sandakan, and Kota Kinabalu.
Sabah recorded 2,594 cases today, the second consecutive day with a drop in the number of new infections reported.
According to Masidi, most of the new infections in the state were being detected through close contact screenings.
“However, there is a rise in the number of infections detected through the screening of symptomatic individuals.
“The cases in this category are considered sporadic cases where the source of the infection is difficult to identify. It is also an indication that the virus is in our community.”
As many as 30.3% (787) of the new cases detected in Sabah today were from the screening of symptomatic individuals. The remaining 60.6% (1,573) were detected through close contact screenings.
