

In a Facebook post today, the former Johor Bahru MP said that because there was no data-sharing between the two government bodies, ordinary Malaysians have had to step in and help families in quarantine.
“When these two ministries share data, those who are quarantined at home can get their essential supplies throughout the quarantine period from the welfare department.
“Currently, those under quarantine are left just like that. Not only are they unable to go out to buy their necessities, but I also do not know if they have the financial capability.
“In Johor Bahru, more than 100 households under quarantine have already been supplied essential goods by community bodies and leaders,” he said.
Shahrir added that this exemplified why the battle against Covid-19 cannot be managed at the federal level alone but should involve the various groups at the local level.
