Following the assault on Aug 25, his father, aged 68, lodged a police report yesterday.
According to the report, the incident happened when the complainant reprimanded his son for scribbling with a marker pen on the wall of the younger man’s house at PPR Pantai Ria in Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur.
Angered by his father’s scolding, the suspect kicked him in the right rib. The father then returned to his wife’s house in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan on Aug 26 and sought treatment at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital.
The doctor who treated the victim confirmed that one of his right ribs was fractured.
In a statement, Brickfields district deputy police chief Basri Sagoni said the suspect was arrested at his house at around 10.20pm.
“A urine test showed a negative result. The suspect does not have any criminal record.”
He said the suspect, the victim’s youngest son, claimed to have kicked his father in the abdomen to defend himself from being beaten.
The man was brought before the Kuala Lumpur magistrates’ court and has been remanded for two days until tomorrow under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt. If found guilty, the son faces imprisonment of up to seven years and a fine.
