Commenting on health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah’s earlier remarks today, Rose pointed out that the state will receive the single-dose vaccines in stages and not in one delivery.
“The total of 180,000 doses will be sent to Sabah in batches meaning the state started to receive the first batch of 53,000 doses on Aug 24 and another 43,000 doses in the second batch on Aug 25,” she told FMT.
She added the remaining doses will arrive in Sabah before the end of August.
Rose had said after the delivery of the first batch earlier this week that the subsequent CanSino vaccine supply was expected to arrive in Sabah later this month.
Noor Hisham said today that a total of 180,000 doses of the CanSino Covid-19 vaccine has been sent to Sabah.
In a post on his Facebook and Twitter accounts, the DG said it was hoped that the single-dose CanSino vaccine could help expedite and ramp up the vaccination rate in the state, especially in the rural areas.
According to the Star Online, 43,200 doses of the CanSino vaccine arrived at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport yesterday.
The vaccine would be prioritised for remote areas, said deputy state secretary Masnah Matsalleh who added that the health ministry has identified which areas these vaccines would be distributed to.
