2 Indian nationals killed in Cyberjaya manhole tragedy

The workers were unconscious earlier after inhaling toxic gas while working in the manhole.

A hazmat team was also at the scene in Cyberjaya to help with the rescue efforts.
PETALING JAYA:
Efforts to free two workers trapped inside a manhole in Cyberjaya proved to be in vain after they were found dead.

They are believed to have been overcome by toxic gas.

A fire department spokesman said the workers were both Indian nationals. They were identified as Kesavan Matarasan, 30, and Sailu Makkala, 40.

Kesavan was pulled out from the manhole at 4.30pm and his co-worker 30 minutes later.

The men were part of a seven-man team that had been working in the area near a new hospital in Cyberjaya.

A fire and rescue team had reached the area in 11 minutes after receiving a distress call at 2pm earlier today.
