Sibu supermarkets open only to fully vaccinated from end August

This comes after 80% of the local population received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Only fully vaccinated workers and customers will be allowed in Sibu supermarkets under Phase 2 of the state’s recovery plan.
PETALING JAYA:
All supermarkets in Sibu, Sarawak, will only be allowing entry to fully vaccinated individuals from the end of this month, says its municipal council.

Its chairman Clarence Ting said the supermarkets were initially encouraged to allow entry to people with at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

However, citing new SOPs from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee, he said only fully vaccinated employers and workers in the private sector could go to the workplace under phase 2 of the state’s national recovery plan.

“Premise owners and their workers must ensure that only customers who have completed two doses of the vaccine are allowed entry,” he was quoted as saying by Borneo Post Online.

Ting said Dr Annuar Rapaee of the Sibu Division Disaster Management Committee had instructed him to implement the measure at the end of August, as over 80% of the local population had been fully vaccinated so far.
