The efforts of the volunteer to learn Urdu and Bengali when communicating with vaccine recipients from Pakistan and Bangladesh at the centre (PPV) has brought praise from the public.
In a video uploaded on Twitter, she said she was trying to learn both languages in order to help facilitate the registration process at her counter at the Stadium Bukit Jalil PPV.
“I just want to share a video recording of me speaking in Urdu and Bengali. Learning these languages has helped me speed up my work. I love watching their reactions when I speak their language. I hope this video makes you happy,” she said on Twitter.
Besides learning Urdu and Bengali, Ain, who has been volunteering at the PPV since the end of June, is also learning other languages like Burmese, Nepali and Hindi.
“Sometimes it is difficult for these people to understand so I decided to learn their languages in order to make it easier for both parties.
“Every time they speak Bengali – and then they smile when they hear me speak their language. Now the target is to learn the Myanmar language but it’s a bit difficult. The majority do not understand when we speak in English or Malay,” she said.
So far, the video has received more than 300,000 views with netizens praising Ain’s efforts to facilitate the vaccination process for foreigners.
Special adviser on public health to the Prime Minister, Dr Jemilah Mahmood, also praised and thanked Ain for her efforts.
“That’s the right spirit and thank you for your dedication and positive attitude,” she said on Twitter.
