PETALING JAYA:
Outgoing Federal Territories minister Annuar Musa will be back in action in the federal capital again tomorrow, this time as a volunteer and minus the perks of a cabinet minister such as police outriders.

In a posting on Twitter today, he said he wished to continue helping the poor and homeless and would begin tomorrow.

“Yes, no more riders, no more bodyguards, no more ‘gaji’, nothing. But to me, those were all ‘on loan’. What’s next? Serve the rakyat as usual. I have registered myself as a Prihatin volunteer. I want to continue helping the poor, gelandangan and those in need. Esok saya mula, InsyaAllah,” he said.

He included an image of his identity card as a member of the Wilayah Prihatin Volunteers, a community service organisation he started as Federal Territories minister.

Annuar and the rest of the Cabinet offered their resignations today, in tandem with the resignation of prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

Annuar was among a group of MPs from Umno who served in Muhyiddin’s government and continued to support him even after party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that the party was withdrawing support for Muhyiddin.

Umno’s action cost Muhyiddin his parliamentary majority, leading to his resignation.
