IPOH:
The Perak state government has proposed that dining at restaurants be allowed only after employees of food premises and hotels have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The proposal had been submitted to the National Security Council, Perak menteri besar Saarani Mohamad said. He added that the proposed measure was to ensure the health and safety of all dine-in customers.

The federal government has allowed dine-in activities for fully vaccinated individuals in states under Phase Two of the national recovery plan, beginning on Aug 10.

Saarani said the state government was considering Covid-19 walk-in vaccinations for those aged 18 and above.

He said several factors such as sufficient vaccine supply and the number of vaccine recipients would be taken into account to avoid congestion at vaccination centres.

Perak started its Covid-19 walk-in vaccinations for senior citizens on Aug 3.

Saarani also said Perak was scheduled to receive 1.013 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines this month.

He said 150,720 doses had already been received so far, while the rest would arrive in stages.

If the amount can be fully utilised, Perak will be able to achieve the 40% vaccination threshold by September to move to Phase Three of the recovery plan, he said.
