
The 17 made their statements at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters here today, Kuala Lumpur police chief Azmi Abu Kassim said. Several more MPs would be called to give their statements soon.
The MPs seen to be present in the morning were:
Tan Kok Wai (Cheras); William Leong Jee Keen (Selayang); Fong Kui Lun (Bukit Bintang); Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (Setiawangsa); Charles Santiago (Klang); Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus (Hulu Langat); Dzulkefly Ahmad (Kuala Selangor); Fuziah Salleh (Kuantan); and P Prabakaran (Batu).
MPs who came after noon were: Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh (Ledang); Chan Ming Kai (Alor Setar); Wong Chen (Subang); Sim Tze Tzin (Bayan Baru); Anthony Loke Siew Fook (Seremban); and Nor Azrina Surip (Merbuk).
Langkawi MP Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is chairman of the Pejuang party, and Jerlun MP Mukhriz Mahathir, who is Pejuang president, reportedly had their statements taken in Putrajaya by four officers from the Bukit Aman Organised Crime Investigation Department.
The investigations are being conducted under the Peaceful Assembly Act and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act.
On Saturday, 20 MPs had their statements on the matter taken.
The investigation is over a rally by a group of MPs on Aug 2 who attempted to enter the Parliament compound and insisted that the Dewan Rakyat sitting continue. The five-day special sitting, which was scheduled to end on Aug 2, was postponed on the advice of the health ministry following the spread of Covid-19 cases in the building.
All MPs at the rally later dispersed peacefully when ordered by police.
