Priced from RM30 to RM35, all test kits sold through the eMedAsia website have received approval from the health ministry’s Medical Device Authority (MDA).
The storefront is a collaboration between the MMA’s investment arm and healthcare firm HS Bio.
More products and services will be added in the future.
“These self-test kits will play an important role in the management of Covid-19 in the country,” said KOOP MMA chairman Dr Thirunavukarasu Rajoo in a statement following the website’s launch.
“We will also soon be adding RTK Antigen and RT PCR screening services, which can be booked online through the storefront.”
Customers will be able to select the specific medical provider they would like to buy the kit from, and the product will be shipped to the buyer within 24 hours.
“The storefront will be a way the public can be assured of purchasing quality self-test kits approved by the authorities,” said Thirunavukarasu.
“To be assured of safety and efficacy, it is important that the public obtain the self-test kits from authorised channels.”
He said the health ministry had said that only pharmacies and healthcare facilities can sell these self-testing kits.
Plans are in place to integrate the platform with MySejahtera in the future, he added.
Currently, there are six self-test kits approved for use by the MDA, namely:
- Salixium-COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Rapid Test;
- Gmate® COVID-19 Ag Saliva for Home Use;
- BERIGHT-COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test Device;
- ALLTest COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test;
- JusChek COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test; and,
- Longsee 2019-nCoV Ag & Influenza A/B Rapid Co-Detection Kit.
