No further action against teacher over alleged rape jokes

Sungai Buloh police say they have received a notice from the deputy public prosecutor.

Student Ain Husniza Saiful Nizam says she has received a RM1 million demand for ‘defamation’.
PETALING JAYA:
Police will take no further action against a teacher accused of making inappropriate rape jokes in class.

Sungai Buloh district police chief Shafa’aton Abu Bakar said her department has received an NFA notice from the deputy public prosecutor, Sinar Harian reported.

Her statement comes a day after Ain Husniza Saiful Nizam, the teenager whose TikTok video detailing inappropriate rape jokes made by her teacher went viral in April, revealed that she has been hit with a RM1 million defamation suit.

“Today, I suddenly received a letter of demand for ‘defamatory statements’,” the Form 5 student said in a Twitter post. “In the letter, I was given seven days to respond to the demands, including to settle RM1,000,000 in damages.”

In a separate tweet, her father Saiful said he received a letter of demand from the law firm of Rasshidi Ema & Yung and would not comment for now.

He, however, told the Malay Mail the letter of demand was from the teacher alleged to have made the rape jokes.

“The letter was issued by the teacher for defamation, although we never mentioned his name or the school’s,” he told the portal.

After Ain’s revelation went viral, the education ministry said the teacher had been transferred to the state education department.
