PETALING JAYA:
The Drug Control Authority (DCA) has approved the conditional registration of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine.

In a statement today, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the approval is for the Moderna vaccine registered to Zuellig Pharma Sdn Bhd and produced by Rovi Pharma Industrial Services in Spain.

“The conditional registration approval requires that information on the quality, safety and effectiveness of the vaccine be monitored and evaluated based on the latest data from time to time,” he said.

“This is to ensure that the vaccine’s risk-benefit analysis remains positive.”

The DCA last month also approved the conditional registration of Covid-19 vaccines by Sinopharm and Johnson & Johnson manufactured by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products Co Ltd in China and Janssen Pharmaceutica NV in Belgium, respectively.

Malaysia has also approved the Pfizer, Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines produced by different manufacturers.
