De facto law minister Takiyuddin Hassan is supposed to brief MPs on the revocation of the emergency ordinances, among other laws imposed during the Emergency since January.
On Thursday, the Parliament sitting was suspended after two staff members were reported positive.
At 3.30pm on Thursday, Rashid told MPs that everyone in Parliament — MPs, aides and staff — would not be allowed to leave the building until Covid-19 tests were carried out.
At 5.15pm, Rashid said another two positive cases were reported, and called for the sitting to be adjourned.
Prior to that, the sitting was suspended three times — at 12.30pm, 12.45pm and 2.30pm.
The chaos and confusion came after Istana Negara issued a statement revealing that the government had not sought consent from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to revoke the emergency ordinances.
Health director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah has said that as of July 29, 11 Covid-19 cases had been detected in Parliament.
