KUALA LUMPUR:
Opposition MPs are questioning the “preferential treatment” given to some top guns over the “Covid-19 outbreak” in Parliament, pointing out that many ministers left the Parliament building while the others were being tested.

Former health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad said, by right, everyone should be tested.

“Why is there preferential treatment if all of us have been exposed to Covid-19?

“The testing should be carried out across the board with everyone following the same SOPs,” he told FMT.

He also said proper contact tracing should be done on all to prevent a spread. “Has this been done?”

Amanah’s Dzulkefly, the Kuala Selangor MP, also said those who left the building earlier may be breaching the laws as they are now classified under Person Under Investigation (PUI).

Earlier at 3.30pm today, deputy speaker Mohd Rashid Hasnon had said no one would be allowed to leave the House until Covid-19 tests were carried out on everyone in the building.

Rashid said the health director-general had informed the House that two staff members had tested positive, one on Wednesday and the other today.

Due to that, no one was allowed to leave the building until 5.15pm.

Bernama had reported earlier that several vehicles believed to be carrying ministers were seen entering the main gate of the prime minister’s residence at 1.30pm.

Dr Lee Boon Chye (PH-Gopeng) said this may cause another outbreak.

“Since the health DG has said everyone needs to be tested, those who went out earlier may cause a potential outbreak,” he told FMT.

RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) expressed shock over the news that some of the Cabinet ministers were at the prime minister’s residence.

“Why are they allowed to leave? Shouldn’t they also go through the same test we are undergoing?” he asked.

Rayer said government leaders would have known about the health directive earlier and should have followed the precautionary measures.
