The Rembau MP was responding to Wilfred Madius Tangau (Upko-Tuaran), who said criticism of PPVs should be taken as proposals for improvement in the future.
“Although the decision to investigate (these matters) are outside my job scope, I agree that there is no need to take action against whoever writes news reports to improve PPVs,” Khairy told the Dewan Rakyat.
The vaccination minister added that he would discuss with the relevant authorities to ensure they would drop such cases as the news reports were written “in the spirit of wanting to improve PICK (national Covid-19 immunisation programme)”.
It was previously reported that the chief editor of health news portal CodeBlue was under investigation by the police over an article about hidden Covid-19 cases at the Setia City Convention Centre PPV.
Its editor-in-chief, Boo Su-Lyn, was summoned to give her statement at the Shah Alam district police headquarters on Monday after the PPV lodged a complaint.
The investigation is conducted under the Penal Code for intent to create public fear and alarm, and under the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998 for using a network to communicate false or offensive content.
