PETALING JAYA:
Selangor FC captain and Malaysian international Brendan Gan has been diagnosed with testicular cancer, and has undergone surgery to remove the tumour.

“Despite being diagnosed with the condition, he remains optimistic and in fact, stronger than ever,” Selangor FC said in a Facebook post.

The Sydney-born midfielder, a mainstay in the national team, is currently recovering from his surgery and is being closely monitored by his medical team.

“Our captain is determined to recover and is eager to come back and be with the team as soon as possible.

“We hope everyone will pray for his health and provide him some privacy during his recovery.”

His most recent game for Selangor FC came in a 2-1 home loss to Terengganu FC. He was not in the side in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Kuala Lumpur.
