The helicopter was there to collect 36 packets of “nasi ganja” for delivery to Kuala Lumpur.

Perak police chief Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said that after checking with the Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia (CAAM), it was found that the helicopter only had permission to land at the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport, Ipoh.

“The helicopter landed in Padang Ipoh at (about) 9.55am to 10.15am today.

“The helicopter had no permission to land in Padang Ipoh. We have channelled this information to CAAM Ipoh,” he told reporters, according to Utusan Malaysia.

The helicopter, which is believed to be privately owned, was carrying two men and was supposedly sent to Padang Ipoh to collect “nasi ganja” from a famous restaurant in Ipoh.

A spokesperson for the nasi ganja restaurant, who declined to be named, confirmed they had received orders for 36 packets of rice with chicken, meat and salted eggs from customers in Kuala Lumpur.

They said they initially doubted whether the booking was real, because he was told the order would be transported via helicopter.

“I was also a bit sceptical because there have never been customers who take orders by helicopter.

“This is the first time orders have been collected using a helicopter.”

Perak police have since said they will be opening an investigation into the flight for SOP violations related to crossing interstate borders.

Potential charges would come under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act (Act 342) police said, without offering specific details.
