
Sequerah, who was appointed judicial commissioner in 2014 and elevated as judge in 2017, had served the High Court in Johor and Penang before serving in Kuala Lumpur.
He will officially get his award, the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN), tomorrow along with 1,035 others who get various awards, Governor Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak’s office said today.
Other notable members of the judiciary who are getting the DSPN are Appeals Court judge Nantha Balan ES Moorthy, chief registrar Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh and Shariah Appeals Court judge Mohd Amran Mat Zain.
Due to the current movement restrictions, the actual conferment of the medals would be at a later date, but the titles come into effect tomorrow.
Leading the honours list this year is the governor’s consort Khadijah Mohd Nor, who will receive the Darjah Utama Pangkuan Negeri, the highest state honour, which carries the title Datuk Seri Utama.
Media Prima Berhad chairman and Western Digital Malaysia operations chairman Syed Hussian Syed Junid will receive the Darjah Panglima Pangkuan Negeri (DPPN), the second-highest state honour with the title Datuk Seri.
Former Maybank Group chairman Mohaiyani Shamsudin will also receive the DPPN.
Other notable individuals receiving honours from Penang include: Penang bishop Sebastian Francis, Penang state secretary Abdul Razak Jaafar and former Penang police chief Sahabudin Abd Manan who will all become Datuk Seri’s, while Universiti Sains Malaysia vice-chancellor Faisal Rafiq Mahamd Adikan, Penang Hospital infection control chief Dr Chow Ting Soo , Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society Malaysia commissioner Khoo Boo Leong and Balik Pulau MP and Penang PKR chief Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik will become Datuks.
A total of 15 people are getting the Datuk Seri title and 130 are getting the Datuk title from the governor.
