PETALING JAYA:
Maybank has committed RM14 million to provide more beds, staff and training at two public hospitals in Kuala Lumpur and Klang.

Maybank chairman Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa said work would be carried out over 20 weeks from the end of the month.

Six more ICU beds will be provided for Category 4 and 5 Covid-19 patients at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Klang and 10 at Hospital Kuala Lumpur. Both hospitals will also receive 200 extra beds each for Covid-19 patients.

There would be 40 more health workers and support provided for HTAR and 50 for HKL, enabling the outpatient departments to reopen and serve all patients, he said in a statement. A temporary field hospital would also be set up at HTAR.

He said the programme would be carried out through Mercy Malaysia.
