“The Selangor health department encourages private doctors to establish private CACs to lower the number of patients at existing CACs,” he told a press conference today.
Sha’ari was commenting on the surge of patients waiting to be assessed at CACs in the state, particularly the one at Stadium Malawati in Shah Alam, which saw around 4,000 patients queuing between 8am and noon yesterday.
According to Sha’ari, there were currently 34 CACs in Selangor, with the one at Stadium Malawati being the biggest in the country.
He said there were currently three entrances to the CAC in Stadium Malawati, with one each for people to be issued release orders, people who need to do Covid-19 assessments and a special entrance for senior citizens or children.
“Yesterday, when many people came, we opened one more entrance to issue release orders as there were 1,900 people needing the orders.
“We also set up tents and prepared chairs for patients while NGOs in Selangor also provided food and drinks,” he said.
He added that more staff would be mobilised to the state to ensure better operations at CACs.
Earlier today, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah had also urged the public to head to the nearest CAC to avoid congestion at Stadium Malawati, and posted a list of the other available CACs in the state.
