Places and services offering food aid to those in need.

PETALING JAYA:
The #BenderaPutih (White Flag) campaign is a community initiative to help those in desperate need of food and assistance in light of the worsening Covid-19 health and economic crisis.

The campaign encourages those who are struggling financially to reach out for help without fear or shame by displaying a white flag in front of their home as a sign that they need immediate assistance.

1. BAC Free Makan

Launched by Brickfields Asia College in response to the pandemic, the food bank has helped tens of thousands of Malaysians. The initiative is encouraging anyone who needs help, or knows somebody who does, to get in contact to arrange the delivery of a food pack. Contact: 012-2935722.

2. PlusVibes Foundation

The group offers to send basic food supplies to families in need. Those requiring assistance or who wish to donate money may do so at this link.

Deliveries will be made every Friday. In their first week of running the #BenderaPutih campaign, the group raised RM5,025 and fed 100 families.

3. Projek Rakyat Kenyang (Klang Valley)

A joint initiative between StandUp Malaysia, YPolitics and ARUS Anak Muda, the groups are accepting donations and delivering pantry staples to families in the Klang Valley. Applicants only need to provide their name, phone number and address on the form at the link below. 4. Petronas

The national petroleum company has set up food banks at a number of its petrol stations. People in need may take what they require or leave donations in kind for others. A full list of locations is available on their Facebook page.

5. Georgetown Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Through their White Knight project, CERT George Town has said they will send immediate aid to those who contact them through their hotline. People in the George Town area in need of aid can call or Whatsapp the group at +60175787516.
