12 EMCO lockdowns in Johor, Pahang and Sabah come to an end tomorrow.

The enhanced movement control order was imposed in places which showed an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases.
PETALING JAYA:
Two areas in Sabah and one in Kelantan will go under an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from July 6 to 19 after recording a spike in Covid-19 cases.

In a statement, senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the Sabah localities were in Beaufort, Tawau and Kunak.

In Beaufort, 17 people tested positive in Kampung Jambatan Baru from the 20 tests conducted. This is a positivity rate of 85%, necessitating the EMCO.

In Tawau, tests conducted among residents of Block 6, Kampung Titingan, found that nine of the 17 screened were positive, with a positivity rate of 52.94%

In Kelantan, Lepan Kabu Estate Quarters (A & B) and a part of neighbouring Kampung Pahi in Kuala Krai have been placed under an EMCO after 18 of the 80 tests turned up positive for Covid-19.

Two EMCO lockdowns in Sabah have been extended until July 19 — those at Kampung Jaya Baru, Kunak, and Kampung Serudung Baru, Tawau.

The EMCO at four localities in Mukim Tenglu, Mersing, Johor, will end on Monday. They involve Kampung Tanjung Genting, Kampung Benaung, Kampung Makam and Kampung Sawah Datok.

Similarly, the EMCO at five housing estates in Mentakab, Pahang, will also be lifted. These are Taman Bukit Bendera, Taman Rimba, Taman Sri Layang, Taman Saga and Taman Saga Indah.

In Sabah, the EMCO in three areas will end tomorrow after a risk assessment was conducted by the health ministry. The affected areas are Ladang Brumas in Kalabakan, Kampung Pulutan in Nabawan and Taman Wijaya Park in Kota Kinabalu.

Ismail said 691 people were arrested yesterday for breaching SOPs, with 38 people remanded, two released on bail and 651 issued compound notices.

Among the offences were not maintaining physical distancing (133), not wearing a face mask (91) and failure to record their personal details or to check in with the MySejahtera app (78).

In addition, 35 illegal immigrants were detained and three vehicles seized as part of the ongoing Op Benteng campaign yesterday.

There were also 822 arrivals from overseas yesterday. They will be placed under quarantine at various places across the country.

A total of 241,589 people have returned to the country since July last year, of whom 9,260 were quarantined and 2,922 taken to hospital. The remaining 229,407 were allowed to return home.
