Navy copter crashes during emergency landing in Lumut

Eurocopter experienced a malfunction and had to make emergency landing.

PETALING JAYA:
A Royal Malaysia Navy (RMN) helicopter crashed when it made an emergency landing this morning at the naval base in Lumut, Perak.

Kosmo reported that the Eurocopter AS 555 SN Fennec combat helicopter had experienced a malfunction, prompting it to land at the naval base.

The Malay daily said it was the first accident involving a navy helicopter since the RMN set up its air wing 30 years ago.

RMN has six AS 555 SN Fennec helicopters as well as six Super Lynx combat helicopters.

It was also reported that RMN is expected to issue a press statement over the incident later today.
