Petaling Jaya police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said they were looking for the man after a 40-year-old woman lodged a police report about the incident involving her two children, aged eight and nine.
“The incident occurred while the two victims were going up some stairs to sell cakes in their residential area.
“The suspect came and performed some obscene act against both the victims. Immediately, the frightened children ran home crying,” he said in a statement.
Fakhrudin said a photo sketch was made with the help of the victims who identified the suspect’s face.
He said the suspect is 168cm tall and thin, and is in his mid-20s.
“The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
“Police are seeking the cooperation of the general public especially in the Petaling Jaya district who know about the incident or the suspect to come forward and assist the police. They can also contact the investigating officer, inspector M Naresh Kumar at 016-975-7113,” he said.
