4,743 Covid-19 cases, 77 deaths

There were 5,557 recoveries while active cases stand at 62,027.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 4,743 Covid-19 cases and 77 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 5,557 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 639,181.

In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 705,762.

There are 62,027 active cases with 875 patients being treated in intensive care and 445 requiring respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the 77 deaths take the number of fatalities to 4,554.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 1,566, followed by Kuala Lumpur (635), Negeri Sembilan (585), Sarawak (507), Johor (239), Penang (195), Sabah (193), Melaka (167), Kelantan (165), Kedah (142), Pahang (131), Labuan (104), Perak (68), Terengganu (37), Putrajaya (7) and Perlis (2).

There were 4,741 local infections involving 3,843 Malaysians and 898 foreigners as well as two imported cases.

The 77 who died comprised 70 Malaysians and seven foreigners, between the ages of 25 and 91. Eleven of them did not suffer from existing medical conditions while another 11 were brought in dead.
