Give people more aid, PN Youth tells govt

The wing calls for a 20% electricity bill discount and targeted moratorium for M40 group and businesses.

PN Youth says the government should extend further assistance to those affected by the lockdown, and act against traders who raise prices.
PETALING JAYA:
Perikatan Nasional (PN) Youth has urged the government to consider giving more aid to the people, including a 20% residential electricity bill discount and targeted moratorium for the M40 group and businesses.

PN Youth chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin said the youth wing also wanted the government to act against traders who raise the prices of goods.

Currently, under the Pemerkasa Plus package, a 10% electricity bill discount is given to six sectors affected by the lockdown, while the moratorium for the M40 group is for those who have lost their jobs.

In a statement, Khairil also said PN Youth will continue to uphold the system of constitutional monarchy in line with the Federal Constitution and the country’s laws.

This is in response to the statement from the Malay rulers following a special meeting on the Covid-19 situation.

“The Malay rulers’ decree for lives to be prioritised is in line with the commitment of the government led by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin,” he said.

“The national recovery plan points to an inclusive, improved and holistic move to get the country out of the Covid-19 crisis.”
