Jobless man charged with offering RM120,000 bribe to cop

The man, aged 39, pleaded not guilty to making the offer to a narcotics officer from Pahang.

A 39-year-old man was charged with offering a RM120,000 bribe to a police officer.
SHAH ALAM:
An unemployed man was charged in the sessions court here today with two counts of offering and giving a bribe of RM120,000 to a senior police officer last month to avoid action against him for a drug offence.

Abd Aziz Abdullah @ Shariff, 39, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out to him before Judge Rihaida Rafie.

He is accused of offering RM120,000 to ASP Mohammad Izzuddin Zulkifly, 39, of the narcotics squad at Pahang contingent police headquarters not to take action against him for having 5kg of syabu.

He is alleged to have committed the offence at the MRT car park at Sri Damansara Sentral, Sungai Buloh, at 6pm on May 24.

He was also charged with offering the bribe through his friend, a grilled-chicken seller and part-time air-conditioner technician, Mohd Nizam Mohd Lazim, 36, at the Petron service station in Petaling at 9pm that day.

As the accused is being held in remand at Sungai Buloh Prison, no bail was ordered.
