PETALING JAYA:
Two police officers who were arrested on Sunday on suspicion of being involved in a “wild party” at a hotel may be sacked, Bukit Aman’s integrity and standards compliance department (JIPS) said.

JIPS director Zamri Yahya said the two police officers were a deputy superintendent and an inspector. He said stern action should be taken against the two officers as they were repeat offenders.

“The deputy superintendent and the inspector had been involved in other cases of misconduct and we will recommend dismissal to the management department,” he said, according to Berita Harian.

The two were among three officers and a constable in a group of 32 people detained on suspicion of being involved in a “wild party” at a hotel on Jalan Pinang here recently.

Sources said one of the officers, an inspector, is with JIPS at the federal police headquarters.

The other two are a deputy superintendent attached to the Selangor police headquarters and another inspector, who is with the narcotics division in Penang. The constable is stationed in Jinjang.

Zamri said JIPS was also considering taking action against the other two officers.

It is believed that one of them organised the party that included eight foreigners and 18 women, aged between 20 and 50.

No offending items were apparently recovered in the 2am raid.

The case raised questions about how the hotel management allowed bookings of the rooms for a large group during total lockdown – all hotels are closed, except for quarantine purposes – and whether Covid-19 protocols were observed.

It is not known what action will be taken against the hotel, whose general manager declined to comment.
