Cops complete sexual harassment probe on politician

Police spoke to 12 people, including the other participants of the Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan beauty pageant.

KOTA KINABALU:
Police have wrapped up their probe into a sexual harassment allegation by a beauty pageant contestant against a politician here after talking to 12 people.

Among those interviewed were other participants of the Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan pageant as well as an Australian who worked for the 52-year-old politician-cum-businessman.

State police commissioner Hazani Ghazali said they would be submitting their investigation papers to the Attorney-General’s Chambers today and await further instructions.

The politician was remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code for investigations under Section 354 of the Penal Code for using criminal force to outrage the modesty of a person.

In the police report, the beauty contestant had claimed the man, who is a member of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR), had touched her thighs, neck, hands and the back of her body when they were in his vehicle.

Another police report was also lodged by a Rela member against the politician who had alleged that he had been roughed up.

Meanwhile, the politician’s lawyer, Marcel Jude said his client’s remand order would expire at midnight tomorrow.
