He said 43 compound notices were also issued as a result of 187 inspection operations conducted, while the domestic trade and consumer affairs ministry had also issued 41 compound notices to business that failed to comply with SOPs.

He said the ministry had mobilised more than 2,200 enforcement officers to ensure full compliance at retail, wholesale, distribution and restaurant business premises.

In addition, the police compliance task force had conducted 86,714 inspections, at 4,511 supermarkets, restaurants (5,404), factories (2,152), banks (3,884), government offices (1,051) and hawker stalls (2,658).

In Perlis, police said nine employees of a courier service firm were penalised for not wearing face masks while at work.

Arau district police chief Nanda Maarof said the workers, aged between 20 and 30 years, were slapped with an RM1,500 compound fine after an inspection of the premises this afternoon. “Nine out of 40 workers were not wearing face masks,” he said.
