Nursing Now Care Centre manager Mandy Yeoh said today that the mobile vaccination programme has made it convenient for the elderly who have difficulty going to the designated vaccination centre.
She said the mobile vaccination process was executed quickly and smoothly.
“We were informed about five days ago that the mobile vaccination unit would be arriving at our centre to vaccinate our residents and staff.
“We handed them the list of names and the needed information, and the whole arrangement was made two days later, stating that they would be arriving here today,” she said.
At 4pm, the team of medical personnel arrived at the old folk’s home in a single vehicle and set up the vaccination centre inside the care centre.
A total of eight vaccine shots were administered, for three residents and five staff, and it all took around 20 minutes to complete.
Yeoh said those vaccinated were expected to get the second dose of vaccine by June 24.
“I want to thank the health ministry for the arrangement and the streamlined vaccination process, as well as The Association for Residential Aged Care of Malaysia which had appealed to the government to fast-track the vaccination for the elderly,” she added.
In Penang, there are two mobile vaccination teams under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme to administer vaccine shots at old folk’s homes.
The mobile vaccination units are expected to visit a total of eight old folk’s homes daily and aim to administer an average of 200 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine per day.
