KOTA KINABALU:
Sabah police have promised a thorough investigation into a claim that an Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan contestant was molested by a member of the beauty pageant’s organising team.

State police commissioner Hazani Ghazali said they are looking into the report lodged by the contestant.

Speaking to FMT, Hazani said police will also call up the complainant to record her statement.

“The probe will be carried out no matter who the individual (who committed the alleged act) is or what his background is.

“Whoever it is, no one is above the law,” he said.

Hazani said the outcome of the probe will be submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for the next course of action.

Social media was awash with negative comments from netizens lambasting the alleged act after a police report purportedly lodged by one of the contestants on May 21 was posted online earlier today.

In the report, the contestant claimed the individual in question had touched her thighs, neck, hands and the back of her body when they were in the latter’s vehicle.

It is also said the man has strong political connections as he is a member of a local party in Sabah.
