The former prime minister's wife also wants the High Court to nullify her solar project corruption trial.

Rosmah Mansor wants Gopal Sri Ram disqualified as prosecutor in her Sarawak solar energy project corruption trial.
KUALA LUMPUR:
The High Court will hear Rosmah Mansor’s applications to disqualify Gopal Sri Ram from prosecuting her corruption case and declare her trial a nullity online on Thursday.

Judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan had fixed the date to hear submissions by both parties during case management on May 11.

However, because of the total lockdown that will come into effect from tomorrow to June 14, virtual proceedings will be held instead.

The decision was conveyed to the parties by senior High Court registrar Nur Azizah Jaafar today.

Deputy public prosecutor Poh Yih Tinn said the proceedings would begin at 11.30am.

Rosmah, who has been ordered to enter her defence on corruption charges linked to the Sarawak schools’ solar energy project, filed her applications on May 5.

She is also seeking an acquittal on all charges should the court declare that the previous hearing was a mistrial.

Rosmah, 69, is accused of soliciting RM187.5 million from former Jepak Holdings Sdn Bhd managing director Saidi Abang Samsudin through her then aide Rizal Mansor as an inducement to help the company secure the project through direct negotiations with the education ministry.

She is also accused of two counts of receiving bribes amounting to RM6.5 million from Saidi between 2016 and 2017.

The defence case was earlier fixed to be heard on seven days in June and on July 12 and 15.
