Nabbed – unmasked man who went berserk in shop

The man was seen on security cameras kicking customers and causing merchandise to fall off the shelves.

PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested a man not wearing a face mask who went berserk at a convenience store in Kuala Terengganu, kicking customers and causing merchandise to fall off the racks.

The man was seen entering the shop and later kicking a man in the crotch. After grabbing a drink from the freezer, he stood in line at the counter and seconds later, turned around and lurched at a woman behind him and started kicking her repeatedly.

The incident was caught on surveillance cameras and has made the rounds on social media.

Police said it is believed the man had been triggered by an innocent question from another customer about why he was not wearing a mask.

Terengganu police chief Roslee Chik said the man had also kicked merchandise off the racks, causing damage amounting to RM100.

He said police reports were lodged by a student and an architect, aged 23 and 28 respectively. Another victim, a worker at a Petronas station, claimed he was assaulted by the same man, but has yet to lodge a report.

The man was arrested at his home on Jalan Panji Alam at 10pm yesterday, with a four-day remand obtained.
