In a statement, the company said this became necessary as two passengers had posted on their social media that they had tested positive for Covid-19.
“In a tweet, a passenger said that she boarded the Wangsa Maju LRT train to Pasar Seni and then continued her journey using the MRT service to the Semantan station. Her trip was between 7.30am and 8.30am on May 28.
“Another Twitter user said she had tested positive for Covid-19 and advised passengers who boarded the LRT train from Taman Melati to KLCC on the morning of May 27 to immediately undergo a Covid-19 test. She had used the train between 8am and 9am,” it said.
Rapid Rail reiterated that passengers must adhere to SOPs when using the train service, especially the wearing of face masks properly and, if possible, use double face masks.
The company also said it was important for passengers to practise social distancing on trains to curb the spread of Covid-19.
“All Rapid KL trains are also sanitised every night to ensure the safety and comfort of our passengers.
“If they show any symptoms, avoid using the train service as this will put others at risk,” it added.
