In a statement, domestic trade and consumer affairs minister Alexander Nanta Linggi said his ministry had been tasked with planning the vaccination programme with all the related industry players.
He said the programme would be implemented with the cooperation of the Covid-19 immunisation task force (CITF).
“Considering the Covid-19 pandemic situation which is on the rise, there is a need to speed up vaccination for the economic frontliners, especially workers in the retail sector, to achieve herd immunity.”
According to Nanta, a meeting with CITF, associations and 60 retail industry players was held today.
Companies keen to participate in the programme can submit their applications here or they can liaise with the ministry through the Distributive Trade and Services Industry Secretariat (SPIP) at 03-8882 5881/5905 or via e-mail.
Nanta said the ministry would also work with the Complex Management Association of Malaysia, Malaysia Retailers Association and the Malaysia Retail Chain Association to set up vaccination centres (PPV) at strategic locations nationwide.
