In a video statement, Sinovac chief business officer Helen Yang assured Malaysians that there were no middlemen involved in their relations with Pharmaniaga Bhd, the exclusive registration holder in Malaysia.
“We are dealing directly with Pharmaniaga via a government-to-government arrangement without any involvement of any other third party,” Yang said.
She added that there are currently no unforeseen delays in the supply of the vaccine, which is being imported both in vialed form and as a raw product for fill-and-finish production in Malaysia.
“We have been meeting each other’s obligations, and all contractual deliveries are on schedule. We wish to reiterate that all Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines to be exported from China to Malaysia must go through the product registration holder in Malaysia, which is Pharmaniaga.”
Yesterday, Pharmaniaga lodged a number of police reports over the circulation of “hateful messages” on the company’s involvement in vaccine procurement.
While the company did not disclose details of the reports, its managing director Zulkarnain Md Eusope said these “unscrupulous parties clearly wanted to create chaos and unrest … mistrust and division among ourselves, thus jeopardising the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme”.
