JOHOR BAHRU:
All 27 suspects arrested in connection with the “Kerajaan Gagal” (government has failed) demonstration held on May 13 in Parit Raja, Batu Pahat, will be charged soon, says Johor police chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.

He said the investigation papers have been sent to the deputy public prosecutor’s office at the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

“All 27 suspects arrested will be charged under three laws,” Ayob Khan told a press conference here today.

These are the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1998 (Act 342) for assembling, Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and also Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957.

Previously, FMT reported that police arrested 20 people, including several youths, allegedly involved in the demonstration, in which flares were lit while they carried “Kerajaan Gagal” banners.

Following that, another seven arrests were made.
