PETALING JAYA:
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin says he does not mind taking verbal abuse from the public as long as they are willing to play their part to stop the spread of Covid-19.

Muhyiddin said the people can blame the government but the responsibility to bring the pandemic under control does not rest with the government alone.

He said the approach is not “whole-of-government” but “whole-of-society”.

“They can blame the government, they can scold the prime minister, I
accept. Scold ‘stupid prime minister’, it’s okay. I can say it on television.

“I know how difficult it is to manage the situation but this is our joint responsibility.
The entire society must come together. Only then can we flatten the Covid-19 curve,” he said during an exclusive interview on RTM and Bernama TV last night.

Muhyiddin also urged the public to practise self-lockdown to prevent a sudden surge in Covid-19 infections, with cases currently exceeding 6,000 daily.

He advised everyone to remind others to do the same because whatever efforts carried out by the government would not be effective if the people do not comply with the SOPs.
